Abortion Ban bill filed in Louisiana
Posted March 15, 2006 , By Joshua LeBlanc
I received the following email today from a Local News Source here in Louisiana. Because Louisiana is a primarily Catholic state, its not surprising that a bill to ban abortion would be introduced here. Its also not surprising that it was a democrat who introduced it because here the term democrat doesn’t usually have the same connotation that it does in Washington. I really hope this measure goes through as it will really push the Supreme Court’s hand if more states jump on the bandwagon!
Louisiana may be following in South Dakota’s footsteps. Senator Ben Nevers, a Bogalusa democrat, has filed a bill in the Senate which would ban all abortions. The only exception when the life of the mother is in jeopardy.
The bill includes a ban on abortions in cases of rape and incest.
A similar bill that became law in South Dakota a few weeks ago may bring the issue before the US Supreme Court.
