Bishop Gumbleton Retires

Posted February 2, 2006 , By Joshua LeBlanc

Today the Vatican officially accepted the resignation of Auxiliary Bishop Thomas Gumbleton of Detroit.  I’m not exactly sure how to react to this.  For those of you who know me I am happy at the fact that he is no longer in a position of authority in the Archdiocese of Detroit (as thought he really was) but I believe this retirement will only give him more time to spread his agenda.  At least while he was Auxiliary Bishop he had some duties to keep him somewhat busy but now he can work for Pax Christi and the National Catholic Reporter full time.  Let me know your thoughts.

I’m afraid to ask… what did the Bishop do?

Not to worry Josh, the good bishop must ultimately answer, as we all will, directly to the One True God. You keep the faith, let Gumbleton keep whatever it is he calls “his faith” and all will be well in the end.
