Hurricane Rita Update
Posted September 28, 2005 , By Joshua LeBlanc
As promised, here is the update on Hurricane Rita. I spent all day yesterday with my wife, brother, and parents attempting to clean out my parents home which is located in southern Vermilion Parish, LA. From what we were able to gather, it looks like the water had gotten about four feet up and managed to destroy mostly everything. Looks like walls will have to be replaced as well as doors, carpeting, furniture, etc. After all the water had subsided only about an inch of mud remained covering the floors. My mother’s car was totaled when the carport fell on it. We have yet to get into the room that Annie and I’s items were stored in because of some things in the way, but just from peeking it doesn’t look good. Thanks be to God that we had some things at Annie’s parent’s house but most of our valuables were at my parents and ended up under water. While we were there yesterday we were able to take some pictures and I hope to get those up on the internet tomorrow as soon as I can comandeer my camera back! Thank you to all of you who have sent emails inquiring. There were many homes that received worse damage than ours and at this time we’re just wondering if FEMA’s going to end up condemning the whole place because we already have mold growing! I will give an update as soon as I get pictures!
